SAFY of Ohio Receives Funding to Expand Intensive Home-Based Treatment Programs into Allen and Putnam Counties

Lima, OH – Specialized Alternatives for Families and Youth of Ohio’s (SAFY of OH) Lima Behavioral Health (LBH), a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to providing high-quality services to youth and families, is pleased to announce it has been awarded funding to support the expansion of Intensive Home-Based Treatment (IHBT) programming into Allen and Putnam Counties.

This funding, provided by The Child Adolescent Behavioral Health Center of Excellence (CABH COE) in partnership with the Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM), will enable SAFY of Ohio to enhance capacity and accessibility to IHBT services, aimed at supporting youth and families in crisis. IHBT programs are designed to provide intensive therapeutic interventions within the home environment promoting family stability and improving outcomes for youth facing behavioral and emotional challenges.

“We understand many families we serve have experienced multi-generational poverty and trauma and are members of marginalized populations. Key contributing factors to mental health needs in both Allen and Putnam Counties include high child poverty rates, limited access to mental health services, and the presence of intergenerational trauma. We are thrilled to receive this investment for IHBT, which will allow us to strengthen our commitment to providing effective, community-based interventions supporting the well-being and resilience of youth and families in our communities,” said Dr. Camron Whitacre, Director of Clinical Development for SAFY.

IHBT services offered by SAFY of Ohio include comprehensive assessments, individualized treatment plans, and ongoing support from trained professionals. By delivering services directly in the homes of families, SAFY of Ohio aims to reduce out-of-home placements and improve family functioning.
