Adoptive Services

When children in Therapeutic Foster Care cannot be safely reunited with their birth families, SAFY of Ohio supports Therapeutic Foster Care Parents who desire to adopt the youth in their home. Learn more >

Therapeutic Foster Care

SAFY of Ohio’s Therapeutic Foster Care (TFC) or treatment foster care places youth in need of treatment-level care in a supportive, family environment. Our services focus on permanency, safety and well-being for both parents and youth, providing a therapeutic level of care that addresses trauma healing, special medical needsparental skill building, success in school and coping skills. SAFY of Ohio offers Treatment Foster Care of Oregon (TFC-O) services for adolescents placed in residential facilities who are returning home. Our goal is to ensure each child’s physical and emotional safety and facilitate their return to their primary family, adoption, or kinship adoption. Learn more >

Family Preservation & Reunification

When storms in life impact a family’s ability to achieve physical, social, and emotional well-being, our Family Preservation services provides them with the necessary skills to bounce back from difficult situations and experiences. Our clinical team meets families right where they are to achieve healthy, sustainable relationships at home, at school, and in life. Learn more >

Behavioral Health

SAFY of Ohio offers in-home and community-based behavioral health services including individual and family therapy, play and art therapy, screening and assessment services, support groups, juvenile sex offender programs, medication management and substance abuse treatment designed to preserve the family unit and increase health and well-being. These services are delivered in a child’s and family’s natural environment such as home, substitute care, school and community. Our goal is to empower all individuals and families seeking treatment with skills to lead self-sufficient and fulfilling lives as productive members of their community. Learn more >

Older Youth Services

SAFY of Ohio’s Older Youth services promote healthy development and prepare youth emancipating from the foster care and/or juvenile justice system for self-sufficiency and independent living. Learn more >

Tonya Brooks-Thomas, MSSA, LISW

Tonya is a passionate and dependable leader who has served in a variety of leadership positions within SAFY. She has over 24 years of experience ensuring programmatic effectiveness across the state of Ohio. Since 2012, she has been the leader of SAFY of Ohio, serving over 2,600 families and youth across eight divisions. She continues to lead and coach a high-performing clinical and leadership team to maximize positive clinical outcomes and operational excellence.
