A forever family is the happy ending every child deserves

When a child cannot return to their biological family, our Adoption services bridge their journey to a forever family and support families who desire to adopt through foster care. Adoption through foster care is similar to other types of adoption in that when the decision is made and the paperwork and preparation process is complete,  the dream of family is fulfilled. Foster care adoptions, however, are different in a few important ways:

  • Though it is possible to adopt a baby from foster care, the children who are available for adoption generally range from toddler to 21. The median age is eight years old.

  • Parents who adopt from foster care usually work with a public agency or a private agency that has contracted with the state to provide services.

SAFY is a partner with the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption and recipient of funding through the Wendy’s Wonderful Kids ® program that supports SAFY with child-focused recruitment to find the best homes for youth.
