Description of Treatment

SAFY uses evidence-based treatment practices that have been demonstrated to be effective interventions with adults, youths and families.

Behavioral Health Programs

  • Prevention/Education Groups – Currently four prevention/education groups are being offered through SAFY Behavioral Health. They are Anger Management (based on Thinking for a Change curriculum), Social Skills Group for Youth with Developmental Delays, Resist Weed, & the Parent Program for the Adolescent Sexual Intervention Group. Additional groups can be developed to meet the needs of the community.
  • Outpatient Therapy – SAFY Behavioral Health has an astute group of clinicians that are prepared to assist individuals & families through the difficult times in their lives. SAFY ensures that clients are properly linked with the appropriate therapist from the beginning of the assessment process.
  • Outpatient Community Psychiatric Supportive Treatment (Casemanagement) – Our licensed social workers are immersed in the community assisting clients. The intervention specialists will develop team meetings and work with clients on getting both their financial and emotional needs managed and stabilized for a successful future.
  • Intensive Home Based Treatment – This 12 week program is designed for clients that have intense needs and are at risk of out of home placement. Clients and their families are linked with an intervention specialist and a therapist for 4-6 hours per week to quickly stabilize the home &/or school environment.
  • Play Therapy – This therapeutic method is designed for youths under the age of 10 to assist them in communicating their thoughts and feelings through their own natural method of play. While adults are more apt to talk about their struggles, it is often difficult for youths to find their words & play therapy assists them in developing a sense of healthy communication and control in their environment.
  • Assessment & Interventions for Autism – It can be very difficult to discern the differences between Pervasive Developmental Disorders and co-occurring mental health disorders. Ensuring that the client is being assessed and interventions are developed in a holistic manner is key to assisting these individuals in being able to find stability for themselves.
  • Alcohol & Drug Addiction Services – Substance use in on the rise in America. Our services in this program range from the prevention/education group, “Resist Weed” to outpatient therapy to Juvenile Drug Court.
  • Juvenile Sex Offender Services – Our belief is that every youth should have a second chance at life and that treatment works with juveniles who have made inappropriate choices. Our Juvenile Sex Offender program is accredited by ODYS and services this population through group therapy, individual therapy, & family therapy.
  • Trauma Informed Treatment – All of our treatment services are based out of trauma informed care and how the brain responds to trauma in our life. We base our services out of individualized care that will assist each person and family overcome life obstacles that hindered their ability to function in day to day activities.
  • Medical Casemanagement – Research shows us that individuals diagnosed with mental health disorders are far more likely to experience a shorter life. In our medical casemanagement service, we integrate physical healthcare as well as behavioral healthcare to improve the functioning of the individual.
  • School Navigator – With the support of our local Mental Health Board, SAFY Behavioral Health is able to provide consultation to all Allen County Schools to assist both the students and teachers with emotional & behavioral management techniques that will enable them to get back on the academic track.
