SAFY names Peter Howard Vice President of Operations
(Delphos, OHIO) -- Specialized Alternatives for Families and Youth (SAFY) is pleased to announce it
has named Mr. Peter Howard its Vice President of Operations. In this position, Howard is responsible
for the implementation and coordination of operational policies and programs enabling the organization
to provide multi-site continuum of care services in the child welfare youth services industry. He will
ensure a continued focus on improving operations, quality improvement, and business development
throughout the organization. Peter will be charged with oversight for Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky.
Howard has served as the Chief Executive Officer at three child welfare agencies, overseeing
organizational growth and transformation. He most recently served as the President and Chief
Executive Officer at The Florida Center for Child and Family Development, where he managed an
annual budget of $13 million and administered regional and statewide prevention and early intervention
programs for young children and families at risk for academic, social and economic failure. While there,
he expanded the agency’s role as a statewide expert on children and family services.
He also served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Family Counseling Centers, Inc. in
Florida, where he developed outpatient counseling services, in-home counseling programs, family
education and prevention services and juvenile justice programs for teens and their families. He
established a Fund Development department which encompassed planned giving, special events and a
capital campaign focus, rebuilding agency revenues from $350,000 to more than $3 million in a five
year period.
As President and Chief Executive Officer of the Child Development Center in Florida, Howard
expanded agency budgeted services from $2 million to $8 million, developed infrastructure to meet the
changing managed care market and raised a fund raising program to expand the agency’s philanthropic
arenas.
“Peter is a leader in the child welfare and community-based care industry,” says Richard Nedelkoff,
SAFY President and Chief Executive Officer. “SAFY welcomes his administrative and clinical
expertise, and we look forward to working with him as we continue to demonstrate our leadership
throughout the child welfare, behavioral health and juvenile justice communities.”
